Saltillo Investment Background / Saltillo Manufacturing
The principal economic activities of the city include: automotive manufacturing and appliance manufacturing. Saltillo has many industrial parks. The primary manufactured products include automobiles, appliances, metal products and automotive parts. Saltillo is considered the Detroit of Mexico because of the importance of its automotive industry, including Chrysler, General Motors, and Delphi plants. Ramos Arizpe is the sister city of Saltillo and many maquilas operate there as well. Saltillo is also famous due to its exports of Saltillo tile and locally woven sarapes.
Universities
Saltillo has 10+ universities, including Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila, the Instituto Tecnológico de Saltillo and the Tec de Monterrey Saltillo Campus.
